Chapter Philanthropy and Service
At the core of Zeta Tau Alpha is our philanthropy: breast cancer education and awareness. In October, Breast Cancer Awareness month, we put on a large-scale fundraising event, Big Man on Campus. In this, different members of fraternities on campus compete in a "male pageant" to be crowned the "Big Man on Campus." Leading up to this event, we host a "Think Pink Week" where we give out pink lemonade, cupcakes, ribbons, and more! In the past, our chapter has held a golf tournament in the spring called the Crown Masters to raise money for our philanthropy. In the spring, we host Pie-a-Prez, where presidents from nearly every organization on campus volunteer to be pied for our fundraising efforts!
This past year, we raised over $20,000 and our members completed over 400 service hours!
Outside of our own philanthropy, Zeta is dedicated to community outreach in Waco, one of the most impoverished cities in the nation. Each semester, we participate in all-university Steppin' Out, where the entirety of the Baylor community spends a Saturday helping the Wacoans who require assistance, generally in the form of painting or clearing out trash. Our members are strongly encouraged to participate in service every semester at organizations like Mission Waco, the Humane Society, and more!
